The Scheduler is a pivotal member of Canadian tax team locally in Calgary and nationally, dedicated to applying knowledge of the processes and deadlines, engagement economics and various information systems to advance the efficiency, productivity and profitability of the team. Based out of Calgary, the Scheduler will also work virtually with other tax professionals and Schedulers across Canada. Responsibilities Engagement Coordination and Scheduling
  • Coordinate, prioritize, assign and track work engagements
  • Coordinate requests for tax hours from other business units
  • Monitor and follow up with tax practitioners to keep the work assignment process on track to meet deadlines
  • Organize the weekly scheduling meetings, record changes and follow up on issues arising
  • Maintain real-time data of status of projects and tax returns
Administrative Oversight
  • Work with the Global Talent Hub in India to ensure successful coordination and leverage of projects
  • Coordinate, prioritize, track, and review the administrative tasks
Tax project delivery and quality control
  • Demonstrates up to date knowledge of business unit policies, practices and processes in order to assist the team in meeting product quality and compliance standards
  • Ensure tax administration policies are applied
  • Act as a liaison with the tax technology team

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
  • University degree (or equivalent in experience) and a keen desire to learn and take on new challenges
  • At least 2 years related work experience
  • Able to manage multiple tasks, receive work from various sources and with tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • At ease in working in a professional services environment
  • Committed to achieving firm goals
  • Well-developed skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong technology skills to become highly effective in use of resource management system, aspects of the corporate tax software, and the web-based data collection tool
  • Experience with SAP’s MRS resource management module would be an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Meticulous work habits
  • Embraces challenges and change
  • Proactive, likes to work independently, as well as part of the team
  • Demonstrate sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters
  • Flexible to work additional hours during busy season
